In the wake of the attacks in New York and at the Pentagon Tuesday, Sept.
11, the following was written and presented by Fort Myer Military Community
Post Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Fred Robinson -- Prayer for America
Our God, we know you are always with us, especially during our times of
greatest need. Help us to sense your presence and give us the
strength, courage and wisdom that we need in the coming days.
Please help us individually and collectively as a nation to get through
this terrible tragedy. Reach out to the families who have lost loved
ones and comfort them. I especially ask you to be with the families.
Protect all those involved in rescue operations in New York and the Pentagon,
and help them to coordinate their efforts so that confusion is reduced
and their recovery work is effective.
Be with our president and all our leaders, to guide them in the proper
actions to take against those responsible for these attacks.
Protect
our people from any more danger, here in America or abroad. We pray
for our enemies, that they will recognize the shamefulness of their actions
and choose a path of peace and honor.
We acknowledge that you alone can bless our great land with peace, protection
and prosperity. It had become so easy to take these for granted.
Help us to return to you with greater obedience, dependence and trust.
In your name we pray -- Amen.
